ELEVEN YEARS AGO

today, August 23rd 1999, was the first day Bill and I broadcast the show in Detroit. We had closed out our old show on the east coast only 3 days before on a Friday afternoon, moved over the weekend, and were living out of boxes and no furniture as the show debuted. Hell we didn't even know where our toothbrushes were when we took to the air here. Eventually we settled in and started having some real fun. There were more battles with management than I care to remember. What I'll never forget though is just how amazingly generous, spirited, funny, and just basically good metro Detroiters are. I wish we could all still talk every day. If you read my post of a few days back about why I stopped posting, then you know what's happened. Just want to say if we really never get the chance again to hang out through the coolness of radio, thank you for those years. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for 'getting' us. If there's one thing the show did for a lot of folks it was made them realize they weren't alone. Each of you helped me in that regard too.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a shinebox to get.

Maybe an online call-in show, and you could get local businesses to put advertising on the site. You guys know a lot of people from when you were on the radio who might be willing to do that kind of thing. They'd get extra business from those of us who listen, and you guys could still talk to us! Just an idea of course, it's probably a logistical nightmare. LOL

I for one would HAPPILY pay to subscribe to an online version of the show.
I think hearing you guys without having to conform to formats or regulations would be great!

PS -
Rudy's Still Gay.

I was married exactly one year before the debut of your show in Detroit. I can't believe it's almost been three years since we have heard your show in the afternoon where it belongs. I've actually caved in and listened to the Ticket a few times since I like talk radio, but that station is becoming very stale, and now I listen to more music than anything. The PPM system has ruined radio. I know it's not likely we will ever get your show back in afternoons with the same format that your loyal fans all love, but I hope you get a job in radio to provide you with a decent income to live off of. I look forward to listening to you again at some point in the future even if your show is forced to be political or music based.

I wish you guys were on too.
There is shit for radio in Detroit. Talk is all politics and nothing else.

Jeff, I'm heading in the same direction you are going. I'm sorry you have to go through this because it is a painful experience to go through especially with children. The only advice I can give that will help is that your kids are the key to getting through this tough time in your and their lives. To hear your children laugh and play breaks the hold your worse day can have on you. So enjoy your kids and be the best dad they have, all the other crap will not mean a thing looking into their eyes.. I truely miss you guys on the radio! Yeah we have the morning talk radio but it does not have the same "feel" as you guys do.

The cause endures,
The dream still lives,
And the show will never die.

The Deminski and Doyle Show will be back... somewhere, sometime.

(Apologies to Ted Kennedy for stealing from his 1980 concession speech)

Detroit NEEDS an alternative in the afternoon to political commentary, public broadcasting and Mitch Albom. We NEED Jeff, Bill and even Rudy.

Hang in there Jeff.

I agree with Craig's post. Internet broadcasting is still an option. Adam Carolla lost his radio gig to a format change and that's how he is broadcasting now. Opie & Anthony on their sattellite radio show said that they are watching Carolla's show closely, and how he's doing it because that's the avenue they would like to take eventually. Check out Adam and Ace Broadcasting, it's probably the only future for talk radio shows.

I was working in Flint at the time you guys came on - all I remember is thinking "great, this station finally figured out that Steve Dahl is a BORE". Given the track record of the station, I didnt figure you would last long honestly, glad you did. Now what ever happened to Gonzo Greg.... :)

Jeff, so sorry about your divorce, add insult to injury! I miss your show so much and keep hoping I will log on and find out you have joined another station. What the hell happened? I have never gotten a good explaination as to why the show was cancelled!

Hang in there buddy, you will be on top again and then you will have the pick of the babes, money to blow and life will be good once more.
